Assembly - Working Lead

Quality Tool’s St. Paul location is experiencing significant growth and is seeking a working Assembly Lead for the 1st Shift. This position requires leadership experience either formal or informal. This role has the potential to grow into a management role for the right candidate.

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday 6:30am to 3:00pm – This schedule is slightly flexible.

Summary:

Communicate needs to staff and leadership. Prioritize work and problem solve as needed. Communicate with all staff in the company. Ensure work is being done with safety, quality and productivity in mind.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reads and interprets specifications, blueprints, job orders to workers, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and insertion methods and sequences, and assigns duties.

  • Document New Part Set-up files, Engineering Change Requests and other forms as needed.

  • Establishes or adjusts work sequence to meet production schedules.

  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of products.

  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the department, or product.

  • Analyzes and resolves part related issues and assists workers in solving problems.

  • Assures parts comply with drawing specifications.

  • Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel and/or supervisor.

  • Communicate and work with the department manager, customer service, outside service and the shipping team to ensure our customers’ needs are met.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent attendance is a REQUIREMENT of this role.

Skills required:

  • Blue Print Reading

  • Problem Solving with close loop communication with Engineering or other departments as needed.

  • Self Motivated - driven individual

  • Ability to engage and motivate a diverse group of people

  • Positive Attitude

  • Computer skills are required for this role – Visual ERP, Excel, Word, Outlook are a few tools we use.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position reports to the Assembly Manager.

The Assembly Lead will help coordinate activities of workers engaged in the Assembly department. The Assembly Lead directs all aspects of the daily operation of the sheet metal assembly department in the absence of the Manager.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Metal fabrication background required. 5+ years’ experience with Assembly is preferred.

  • Formal or informal experience in leadership is highly desired but not a requirement.
