Quality Tool’s St. Paul location is experiencing significant growth and is seeking a Press Brake Lead for the 2nd Shift. This position is a working role that requires leadership experience. Quality Tool’s second shift is 3 pm to 1:30 am Monday – Thursday.

Quality Tool Job Description

Job Title: Brake Press Setup / Operator, Team Lead

Summary

Receive work orders and complete programming and specify tooling for forming jobs for 3-5 operators. Communicate needs and read schedules and understand priorities. Communicate with the entire team from Managers to Operators. Ensure work is being done in a timely manner and with quality in mind. Operate Press Brakes daily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reads and interprets specifications, blueprints, job orders to workers, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences, and assigns duties.

  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of products.

  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.

  • Lays out, positions aligns and fits components together.

  • Assures parts comply with drawing specifications.

  • Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel and/or supervisor.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Skills required

Able to set up & run simple to complex parts on a CNC Press Brake in a high mix low volume environment. Able to solve problems, read prints and understand the complexity of a task or job. Must read and interpret layouts, job folders, and blueprints for parts in fabrication. Excellent communication skills in this role are required.

  • Set up and run forming operations with tolerances of +/- .005” to +/- .030” on .020” to .187” thick sheet metal.

  • Set-up and run of Cincinnati CNC Controlled and Amada HDS and ATC sheet metal press brakes

  • Inspect work, make necessary notations on work orders, and set up files.

  • The nature of the work is a high mix, low volume.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Team Leader will help coordinate the activities of workers engaged in the Sheet Metal forming department. Assists in all aspects of the daily running of the sheet metal forming department in the absence of the Fabrication Manager.

Education and/or Experience

  • Metal fabrication background required. 5+ years of experience with the setup and operation of CNC Brake Presses is required.

  • Experience forming aluminum, stainless & steel from 20 gauge - .75” thick materials.

  • Minimum 2 years lead / supervisory experience.
